Under new management — same pharmacy, fresh start →
The NHS Pharmacy First service means you can walk into Wellsway Pharmacy and get assessed and treated for earache, impetigo, infected insect bites, shingles, sinusitis, sore throat, and UTI — without seeing a GP first.
Wellsway Pharmacy
The team

If you've ever spent days waiting for a GP appointment for something that felt straightforward, Pharmacy First is for you. It's an NHS service that lets your community pharmacist assess and treat seven common conditions on the spot.
The seven conditions covered are: earache, impetigo, infected insect bites, shingles, sinusitis, sore throat, and urinary tract infections (for women aged 16–64). For all of these, our pharmacist can examine you, make a clinical decision, and — where appropriate — prescribe treatment, including antibiotics.
You don't need a referral. You don't need to call your GP first. Just walk in during opening hours. If we think you need to see a doctor, we'll refer you directly — no starting from scratch.
We've been running Pharmacy First at Wellsway since the service launched, and it's been one of the most popular things we offer. If you're unsure whether your condition qualifies, pop in or call us on 01225 427 456.
